# From fundraising brief to investor shortlist

An editable worksheet from CofoundAlly. No investor in this example is a real directory record, and no introduction, funding or available contact is implied.

## Write the brief first

Example: a seed-stage software company selling to small retailers in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

Replace the example with your actual sector, stage, customer geography, incorporation geography, target round and currency. A fund's headquarters is a different fact from where it invests.

## Compare mandates before saving records

| Fictional mandate | Fit question | Decision in the example |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Seed software; invests in Nigeria and the UK | Does its stated cheque size fit the round, and is its mandate still current? | Investigate further before saving |
| UK headquarters; US-only growth-stage investments | Does the company meet its actual geography and stage requirements? | Exclude from this seed shortlist |
| Africa-focused; sector not stated | Does a current first-party source confirm investment in retail software? | Keep unresolved until checked |

## Save one reason and one source

For every real candidate, record the investor/firm name, the firm's source URL, review date, stage, sector, investment geography, currency/cheque range if stated, one concrete fit reason and the next question to verify. Do not fill missing details with guesses. Use available contact details only for relevant, appropriate outreach.
